Job Summary

Under the direction of the Radiology Manager and Diagnostic Team Leader, performs a variety of diagnostic procedures with technical expertise and competency. Understands the daily operations of all radiographic equipment and departmental flow to obtain optimal imaging and patient care for diagnosis and measure of disease.



  • Performs and assists in various general diagnostic procedures that produce optimal imaging with diagnostic quality according to the department's policy and procedures daily.
  • Follows standards for routine diagnostic exams, positioning, patient care and documentation as prescribed in the procedure manual set forth by the imaging department.
  • Provides optimal diagnostic imaging and radiation safety for the purpose of diagnostic interpretation.
  • Selects the appropriate technical factors, safety devices, and operates all imaging equipment as directed.
  • Orients and trains all Radiology students, new employees.
  • Identifies, processes, transfers, and archives all patient exams.
  • Responsible for proper identification on all exam records and images including patient demographics.
  • Responsible for maintaining the continuing education required for this position.
  • Maintains constant attention to patients assigned to the technologist.
  • Maintains all records in accordance with Hospital and Regulatory policy.
  • Maintains all HIPAA regulations and policies regarding patient info.
  • Maintains the integrity and security of the Radiology Information System and all other hospital computer systems.
  • Adheres to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and regulations regarding patient and operator protection, collimation, and shielding.
  • Ensures dosimeter badge is worn while working in the imaging department.
  • Documents and records the (DAP) Dose Area Product.
  • Provides radiation protection in accordance with all safety standards and the principle of ALARA to ensure the well-being of patients, hospital personnel, and the public while performing any duties.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner.
  • Refers to the Diagnostic Team Leader for any unresolved problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, discipline, and other activities.
  • Promotes professionalism, continuing education, and staff development.
  • Participates in the formal in-service program governed by the Radiology Department.
  • Subject to covering call for holidays.
  • Completes all hospital and Radiology Department mandatory education as required annually.
  • Completes training and in-service presentations required for the Diagnostic Department.
  • Obtains 12 CE credits/year for ARRT Compliance, and 6 CE Credits of which are offered through organizational Radiology Initiatives.
  • Promotes Family Centered Care Philosophy.


Schedule

We need two travelers on the below shifts:



  • Traveler 1:

    • Sunday: 7 PM to 7 AM (12 hrs including lunch)
    • Monday: 4:30 PM to 11 PM (6 hrs including lunch)
    • Friday: 12:30 PM to 11 PM (10 hrs including lunch)
    • Saturday: 7 PM to 7 AM (12 hrs including lunch)


  • Traveler 2:

    • Sunday: 7 AM to 7 PM (12 hrs including lunch)
    • Monday: 7 AM to 3:30 PM (8 hrs including lunch)
    • Friday: 7 AM to 3:30 PM (8 hrs including lunch)
    • Saturday: 7 AM to 7 PM (12 hrs including lunch)




Education Requirement

  • Required Education:

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Technical diploma from a radiology program.
    • Complete all hospital and Radiology Department mandatory education as required annually.
    • Responsible for maintaining the continuing education required for this position.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Required Certifications & Licensure:

    • Radiology Technologist (RT) from the American Registry for Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) issued through an organization that requires a hands-on instructor-led psychomotor skills verification (e.g., American Heart Association or Red Cross).
    • Obtains 12 CE credits/year for ARRT Compliance, and 6 CE Credits of which are offered through organizational Radiology Initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Required Skills & Experience:

    • At least three (3) years of experience.
    • Intermediate knowledge of all forms of diagnostic imaging.
    • Intermediate knowledge of specific/cross-trained areas.
    • Intermediate knowledge of Radiology Information System.
    • Able to handle multiple tasks.
    • Good organizational skills.
    • Good phone etiquette and communication skills.


  • Preferred Skills & Experience: Pediatric experience.
