The Outpatient Oncology Clinical Nurse II serves in a leadership role and delivers direct patient care to an adult Oncology outpatient population. This role will be focused on, but not limited to, Head & Neck Oncology patients. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Oncology Nursing Society/Standards of Oncology Nursing practice to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements. The nurse is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of total RN experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of oncology nursing experience (medical oncology and/or infusion oncology nursing experience
  • Minimum one (1) year outpatient or ambulatory RN experience in the last 2 years
    Experience with chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy administration and side effect management
  • Demonstrated knowledge, abilities, and clinical judgment essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • This position requires flexibilityto orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
  • This position requires flexibility to perform other duties as operationally needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OCN Certification or other relevant specialty certification

  • One (1) or more years of Telephone Triage nursing experience

  • Minimum one (1) year inpatient RN experience

  • Experience with Clinical Research/ Clinical Trials

  • BSN

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR card

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
