Responsibilities
The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of plumbing systems throughout the hospital campus. This position ensures the safe and reliable operation of domestic water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, medical support plumbing systems, and related equipment to support patient care, regulatory compliance, and facility operations. The Journeyman Plumber works independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team while maintaining compliance with applicable codes, hospital policies, and safety standards. Journeyman Plumber - Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all Oklahoma Heart Hospital properties' plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, fixtures, valves, pumps, and associated equipment.
- Perform demolition and remodeling of existing plumbing systems in accordance with applicable codes, hospital standards, and project requirements.
- Install new plumbing systems, equipment, fixtures, piping, and related components as assigned.
- Perform miscellaneous maintenance and repair duties as assigned.
- Maintain adequate inventory of plumbing materials, supplies, and repair parts.
- Ensure all assigned work areas, mechanical rooms, and storage areas are organized, clean, and free of abnormal hazards.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections, testing, repairs, and corrective maintenance on plumbing systems and equipment.
- Maintain and enhance technical knowledge through training and continuing education to ensure proficiency with Oklahoma Heart Hospital facilities systems and equipment.
- Document all maintenance, repairs, inspections, and testing activities in accordance with hospital policies and administrative procedures.
- Cross-train and provide maintenance and repair support for equipment, systems, and facilities assigned to other Facilities Management team members.
- Communicate effectively with hospital staff, departments, vendors, and customers regarding the status of maintenance activities, repairs, and projects.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance situations as required.
- Adhere to all Building Services and Facilities Management safety programs, including lockout/tagout, infection control, confined space entry, and other applicable safety procedures.
- Obtain and coordinate required plumbing permits and inspections as required by local, state, and federal regulations.
- Test, inspect, maintain, and complete all assigned preventive maintenance work orders and associated documentation.
- Assist with water management, backflow prevention, and other regulatory compliance programs related to hospital plumbing systems.
- Support facility construction, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required to support hospital operations.
Qualifications
- Current Oklahoma Journeyman Plumber license required.
- Minimum three years of commercial plumbing experience preferred.
- Experience maintaining medical, commercial, or institutional facilities preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and safety regulations.
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance calls and work independently.
