Brief Description

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the overall administration of the payroll, human resources and benefit software systems and related activities for the Brazos River Authority (BRA) and maintain the confidentiality and integrity of employee information. This is accomplished by performing a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including auditing time entry records; maintaining time and attendance records; entering new hires into the Human Resources Information System (HRIS); processing miscellaneous personnel and payroll changes; computing wage and overtime payments; calculating and recording payroll deductions; ensuring accuracy of reportable GTL income; monitoring deferred compensation deductions to ensure compliance with regulations; coordinating involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments; processing terminations; managing compensation and benefit work flow; performing payroll processes to comply with all state and federal regulations; maintaining accurate payroll records; training employees and supervisors on proper time entry procedures; and maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of the HRIS. Other responsibilities include assisting with employee services and employee relations issues; resolving leave-time inquiries; producing a variety of payroll, benefit, and employee data reports; completing surveys and outside pay inquiries; administering the service and safety awards program; Administering the uniform allowance program; interacting with other employees and the public; maintaining knowledge of legal requirements and best practices related to payroll processing and maintenance; ensuring compliance of policies and procedures; and any other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements



  • A minimum of six years' payroll processing experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel


Preferred:



  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Certified Payroll Professional, PHR or SPHR


  • Associates Degree (in related field) - Completed course requirements to receive an Associates Degree

STARTING SALARY RANGE: Min: $71,592 to $93,070 annual salary. This is an exempt position.
