| Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Assistant Director for Marketing & Technology serves on the
UNCW Career Center leadership team and leads the office's marketing strategy as chair of the Marketing Committee. This role oversees all marketing plans, activities, branding, and storytelling for the Career Center, supporting annual reporting, outwardfacing publications, and collaboration with the Office of University Relations, and Student Affairs Communication and Marketing. It manages internal and external communications and supervises the Marketing Graduate Assistant.
In addition to directing marketing efforts, the position functions as the Career Center's technology consultant, ensuring consistent, highquality technology, providing technical support, and evaluating the value and effectiveness of all technology subscriptions. The Assistant Director also contributes to student success by offering career counseling, presentations, and other direct services as needed. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
- Master's degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Marketing, or related field.
- Two or more years of directly related post-graduate related work experience includes positions in a collegiate career center, or a closely related function.
- Experience developing marketing and branding plan, including developing marketing materials.
- Ability to provide leadership within a staff team, and in the development of programs, services, events and related initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with faculty members, other academic and student affairs departments, employers, and other external groups to inform, support and promote relevant career services and programs.
- Knowledge of career related technologies.
- Ability to effectively counsel college students in all academic areas, as well as deciding or exploratory students.
- Supervision experience (undergraduate student, graduate student, or professional staff).
- Excellent presentation, communication and organizational skills. Extensive presentation experience with small and large groups of students, parents, faculty, staff, employers, and the general public.
- Ability to utilize program assessment instruments and electronic career and employment systems.
- Ability to work independently and creatively develop programs, solve problems, resolve differences, and contribute effectively to the Career Center team.

UNCW Career Center is a comprehensive career counseling and resource center dedicated to empowering students and alumni as active participants in their own career development. This includes coordination and management of a wide range of programs and services to retain and enhance professional relationships with existing employer partners- local, regional, national, and international. Additionally, the Career Center responds to new or expanding employer relationships generated by the Associate Director for Employer Development and further provides career and employment assistance for currently enrolled students and alumni through individual appointments, workshops, career events, programs, services, and resources. Constituents include students, alumni, employers, faculty & staff, parents, and the general public. |
