Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of Position |
Research
* Lead and contribute to high-impact research projects focused on health equity, health services utilization, policy evaluation, and population health.
* Apply advanced statistical, econometric, and/or machine learning methods to analyze complex health datasets (e.g., claims,
EHR, hospital discharge, survey data).
* Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national conferences.
* Contribute to grant proposal development and support ongoing funded projects.
Consortium Engagement
* Collaborate with faculty and institutional partners across HBCUs to advance shared research and training goals.
* Participate in consortium meetings, working groups, and dissemination activities.
* Contribute to building sustainable research infrastructure and partnerships within the Consortium. |
| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The
HBCU Health Equity Data Consortium is a multi-institutional collaborative aimed at advancing data-driven research, training, and workforce development to address health disparities. The Consortium brings together faculty, students, and community partners across historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to strengthen data infrastructure, enhance research capacity, and improve health outcomes in underserved communities. |
| Minimum Requirements |
Master of Public Health (
MPH) or an equivalent master's degree in Public Health, Health Services Research, Health Economics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a closely related field (completed by start date).
* Strong quantitative skills, including experience with statistical modeling and/or data science methods.
* Proficiency in one or more advanced statistical software such as
SAS, R, Stata, ArcGIS, or equivalent.
* Demonstrated experience working with health-related datasets.
* Evidence of scholarly productivity (e.g., publications, working papers, thesis, or dissertation research). |
| Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
Doctoral degree (Ph.D., DrPH, ScD, or equivalent) in Public Health, Health Services Research, Health Economics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a closely related field.
* Experience with causal inference, econometrics, or machine learning techniques.
* Research focus on health disparities, health equity, or underserved populations.
* Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring students.
* Familiarity with reproducible research workflows and version control (e.g., Git).
* Prior experience contributing to grant writing or funded research project |
