Works with an individual unit or various units in the department to analyze and document business functions and data flows to support process maintenance, process improvement, data quality and change management. Makes recommendations to supervisor for changes to unit and/or Company processes and technologies relating to the unit, department or Company to produce greater operational efficiency and accuracy. Assists in the design, testing, and implementation of management-approved operational changes. Recommends appropriate procedures to assure data quality and sufficient process service levels.
What will you do?
- PROCESS ANALYSIS RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyzes and documents business processes, data-flows and uses of information technology. Evaluates performance for opportunities to increase automation, improve efficiency, and increase accuracy. Measures performance of current processes by capturing metrics and comparing performance to benchmarks. Makes recommendations to supervisor for changes to processes and technologies that will improve operating efficiency, quality and reliability of unit results. Documents processes for analysis and models changes to processes and/or technologies. Documents current business rules, procedures and proposed changes. Recommends new service level metrics and benchmarks based on implementation of proposed processes and technology improvements.
- TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in identifying potential departmental technology deficiencies and proposes technology changes to management for approval. May define the requirements and specifications for minor new development or enhancements to proprietary applications. Meets with internal FD developers, other Company developers and/or outside consultants to discuss development and enhancement requirements, reviewing the business justification for such changes and consulting with internal department developers to refine and improve the specifications for the proposed enhancements.
- IMPLEMENTATION AND TESTING: Collaborates with various personnel to implement and test new or revised business processes and/or new or enhanced internally developed software or third-party vendor purchased software. Applies project management methodologies to achieve increased speed and success during implementations. Assists in or helps coordinate the development of testing plans related to software and process implementations. Recommends to supervisor or personnel appropriate testing resources for process and technology testing needs. Reviews testing outcomes to ensure that process performance or software meet expectations. May train employees on new or revised processes or technologies.
- QUALITY ASSURANCE: Participates in the development and maintenance of quality assurance by researching and recommending control standards, procedures and practices to management. Upon approval, develops documents and implements a plan for executing and testing the defined quality assurance procedures. Achieves quality assurance objectives by contributing information and analysis to developed plans and assists in preparing and completing action plans related to maintaining quality standards.
- RESEARCH AND TRAINING: Maintain knowledge of department and Company information technology, and general information technology industry, including hardware and software changes for all information technology products used by or potentially useful to the assigned department units.
- DOCUMENTATION: Develops and maintains documentation of all data flows within and out of the assigned department units, and of all systems for collecting, storing, retrieving, analyzing, utilizing and reporting information related to the assigned departments. Maintains reference documentation of various databases, data files and procedures for use by others.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience required.
Experience
Two or more years work experience.
Required Knowledge
- Knowledge of technology testing methods and procedures
- Personal computer and advanced related spreadsheet and data manipulation software
Preferred Knowledge
- Principles of business, statistics, finance, insurance, insurance accounting and statistics
- Principles of process analysis and project management; project management accreditation
- Company and Department practices and procedures
- Business process analysis and project management
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
