Project: Community Engaged Evaluation to Support Black Maternal Health in Philadelphia
This position is with the Headen Research Group (HRG) and will assist with ongoing evaluation work in partnership with local birthwork community-based organizations. In particular, this position will support an ongoing evaluation project with community-based organization chosen to capture their community impact, working with queer Black-birthing people. The goal of this project is to co-develop and implement an evaluation plan that is responsive to the metrics that matter and resonate with the goals and mission of this organization.
The research assistant will support stakeholder engagement, relationship building and capacity needs, qualitative data collection and analysis, report and manuscript development, and deliverable development.
The Headen Research Group (HRG) leverages multi-method approaches to understand the spatial embedding of structural inequity in neighborhood context and further investigate its impacts on racial inequities in maternal and infant health outcomes. Working at the intersections of epidemiology, systems science, and community engaged research, we aim to develop actionable evidence to improve the health of Black birthing people. As such, HRG is an interdisciplinary and inclusive space with the goal of unpacking the persistent threads of structural racism and its impact during the childbearing window so that Black birthing people and other structurally marginalized birthing populations can thrive.
