DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will support the laboratory by helping produce accurate test data on aggregates, anti skid materials, and cement materials. The work contributes to the safety and reliability of transportation projects across the Commonwealth. As an Assistant Highway Materials Lab Tester, you will perform the following duties:
- Material Testing: Perform routine and assisted tests on aggregates, anti skid materials, and cement materials following state and national standards
- Equipment Care: Inspect and maintain laboratory equipment through cleaning, lubrication, and calibration tasks to support compliance with quality standards
- Sample Preparation: Prepare and split materials for testing within the section or for transfer to other sections for additional analysis
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs for equipment calibration and maintenance activities
- Work Area Organization: Keep the laboratory area clean and organized to meet expectations set by supervisors

- Limited term up to 6 months, full time employment, without benefits, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Hourly Rate: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $17.38 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from high school; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
