DESCRIPTION

Reports to the OR Materials Management Director and provides direct oversight of the Perioperative Materials Management Team across multiple UC San Diego Health sites. Supervises OR Materials Assistants and Case Pickers at the La Jolla campus, ensuring efficient daily operations, regulatory compliance, and effective utilization of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily supply chain activities such as ordering, inventory management, case picking, restocking, expired product monitoring, and supply distribution. Ensures work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with departmental standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. Identifies opportunities to improve workflows, standardize processes, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency. Develops and maintains standard work, monitors key performance indicators, evaluates system needs, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support perioperative operations.

Provides recommendations to leadership regarding workflow improvements, resource utilization, and supply chain initiatives. Assists with personnel management, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, attendance monitoring, performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development. Supports staff growth through competency assessment, education, and mentorship. Participates in budget management, inventory optimization, cost analysis, strategic planning, and implementation of departmental goals. Tracks outcomes, measures success, and reports operational performance to leadership. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience; including proven success in storeroom and inventory practices, procedures used in the receipt, storage, and distribution of merchandise.
  • Minimum one (1) year recent supervisory or management experience.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $88,000 - $161,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $42.15 - $77.39

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
