Assistant Baker (Tuesday-Saturday 530am-2pm)

An opportunity exists on our highly accomplished culinary team. The selected candidate will have responsibility for implementing all elements of daily bakery and pastry production providing a high quality, cost effective in-house product, which complements the menus and adds value to the dining services operation.

Qualified applicants are required to possess 6 months baking experience in full service bakery, restaurant, hotel, store, etc. Experience in healthy and wellness cooking i.e. fat free, sugar free, low sodium is preferred. Possess or be willing and able to obtain Food Handlers certification, as required.

Additional requirements include:

• Basic working knowledge of production methods such as: icing cakes, pie crust, ganache, tempering, mixing techniques, pastry cream, dessert sauces, etc.
• Has basic knowledge of all baking and pastry products to ensure daily production is achieved.
• Capable of operating all forms of baking equipment.
• Ability to understand and produce commercial production recipes, as provided.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to include recipe conversations, food cost and inventories.
