The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Commissioning Specialist to join our growing National Technical Services team as part of a Hiring Our Heroes Skillbridge Fellowship. This is a great opportunity for a transitioning servicemember who enjoys solving problems in the field, collaborating with project teams, and helping bring mechanical systems to life. In this role, you'll support commissioning activities for equipment and systems being installed in mission-critical data center environments, helping confirm they are installed and operating as intended. You'll review design documentation, work closely with project teams, and help deliver the reports and system documentation that support successful project outcomes. Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Ensure systems are installed correctly and perform as intended.
  • Support system startup and testing activities, including developing and executing functional and performance tests.
  • Create and manage commissioning project plans, procedures, and schedules for your projects.
  • Maintain and use testing equipment while keeping accurate records and documentation.
  • Partner with project teams to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Review construction documents and as-built drawings to ensure accuracy and alignment with the original design intent.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support project success.

What Will Help You Succeed at McKinstry:

  • Technical experience with mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems. IT system expertise also a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of project stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with system performance verification is helpful.
  • A degree in mechanical or electrical engineering-or equivalent hands-on experience-is valued.
  • A few years of relevant experience is preferred, but we're most interested in candidates who are curious, collaborative, and eager to learn.

The pay range for this positionis $33.32 - $47.34per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
