Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Applications are invited for motivated scholars with a strong background in synaptic physiology and live imaging to join the laboratory of Pingyue Pan at the Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at Rutgers University - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The primary research interest in the lab is to understand dopaminergic signaling and its dysregulation in Parkinson's disease. The project is to understand synaptic dopamine release in motor control. We are seeking self-motivated individuals with a strong background in synaptic biology, neuronal culture and live cell imaging to conduct quantitative analysis using novel imaging tools. The candidate is expected to be collaborative and demonstrate evidence of productivity. Prior experiences with primary neuron cultures and live imaging are highly preferable.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Design and lead the project as directed by the supervisor.
- Engages in frequent scientific communication with your supervisor/mentor.
- Maintains accurate records of laboratory notebooks and research activity. Reviews literature and prepares manuscripts and abstracts.
- Prepares experimental data for conference presentations, publications and grant applications.
- Engage in scientific communication, training of junior personnel including graduate and undergraduate students.
- Contribute to the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical, biochemical, physiology and instrumentation functions with the research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the department. As requested, assists in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the department.
- Engage in followship applications and research grant applications.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- PhD degree in Neuroscience or related field required with a strong publication record, and a minimum of one year experience in at least two of the following 1) primary neuronal cell culture 2) live cell imaging, confocal/two photon imaging 3) synaptic biology or physiology, 4) animal model, behavior, pathology.
- Candidates in ABD (all but degree) status will also be considered.
