Job Summary: |
Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in an experimental lab, or wet lab, and handle a variety of chemicals and/or potential "wet" hazards. Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in laboratories where chemicals, drugs, or other materials or biological matters are tested and analyzed. Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions. Assistance in the management of the tumor bank, properly organizing samples in the software, and communicating with other researchers. Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects. Laboratory-based translational research on novel diagnostic and novel therapeutics for pediatric sarcomas. Assist in coordinating patient sample procurement, processing, and analysis for national trials. Assist in basic data Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) assays. Conduct experiments; assist with project planning, data interpretation, authorship of presentations and publications. Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting, and communicating results

Qualifications: |
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. One (1) year of professional laboratory experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship or employment authorization for this position now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field. Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory. Experience with basic and multicolor flow cytometry Experience with tissue culture and maintenance of various cell lines. Animal experience (designing/mouse handling/injections/harvesting/sacrificing). Experience with Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) accreditation standards. Previous experience in presenting and/or aiding in publications.

Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, including safety procedures and techniques Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Outstanding customer service skills. Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information. Ability to stay organized under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a "team." Ability to complete lab functions involving cell culture and aseptic techniques. Ability to troubleshoot and independently resolve technical issues with experiments. Proficient in National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) HL7 messaging system. Competent with ELISAs and cloning. Competency with FlowJo, Microsoft Office, Prism GraphPad, and analysis software(s).

Anticipated Pay Range: |
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $52,030 to $69,720. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
