This position has oversight responsibility for the local delivery network (DN) Hospital childrens care service provision. The Director in dyad partnership with the Childrens Health System Regional Medical Director will lead the development and implementation of Yale New Haven Childrens Hospital (YNHCH) care signature for all childrens services at the DN. The individual in this position will help shape the YNHCH Childrens Health System to enhance and develop a world-class model for pediatric and neonatal care and population health, both operationally and clinically in the local DN hospital region. This position will have dotted line reporting to the local DN Chief Nursing Officer or designee. This position will work in tandem with the local DN leadership team to advance and grow pediatric and neonatal services in the hospital and in the regional outpatient care centers.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Responsibilities:
    • 1.1 Collaborates closely with the Childrens Health System Regional Medical Doctor dyad partner and other local DN leaders to create a Childrens Health System care signature using patient-centered, evidence based care, utilizing proven quality, safety, and patient experience strategies to provide cost-effective standardized care across the continuum.
  • 2. Vision & Strategy:
    • 2.1 Participates on an ongoing basis in the strategic planning process of Childrens Hospital and DN hospital and brings a clinical perspective to the design and implementation of program development and implementation
  • 3. Management:
    • 3.1 Optimizes clinical program results by maintaining internal and external customer service focus; continuously enhances value through performance improvement initiatives; and facilitates the expeditious resolution of problems by exercising sound judgment
  • 4. Leadership:
    • 4.1 Serves as a visible leader, working closely with top management and staff from YNHCH and the DN hospital to assure continuous growth, coordination, and integration of clinical activities

Qualifications

EDUCATION

RN with Master's Degree in nursing, healthcare administration or a closely related field required

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in nursing leadership, along with significant operational responsibility; strong focus on full spectrum of neonatal and pediatric services is strongly desired . Successful experience with large facility development projects. Executive leadership experience at a complex facility with leading edge patient care, customer service and research. Proven success in fundraising and capital campaigns. Experience creating and developing "world class" management teams. Demonstrated results and experience in transforming and growing an organization through strategic planning and effective implementation. Competitive health care marketplace experience.

LICENSURE

Current State of CT RN License/ANCC approved nursing leadership certification

SPECIAL SKILLS

Strong financial management expertise accompanied by savvy regarding sound business dealings and the ability to "close the deal" and move forward. Strong leadership skills including demonstrated ability to collaboratively inspire and motivate individuals and groups while also being decisive and taking action on critical issues. Effective not only at recruiting top talent from outside the organization but also at developing the full professional potential of individuals within. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to be equally effective with both large and small audiences as well as one -on-one level, and to a wide range of constituencies. Proven track record of excellent interdisciplinary relationships with physicians and other specialty support staff.
