Hourly Pay Range:

Primary Location: Glenbrook Hospital, Glenview, Illinois

Secondary Location: Highland Park Hospital, Highland Park, IL
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Position Highlights

Endeavor Health is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Psychiatry Consult Liaison team. This is an opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, social workers, nurses, and medical specialists to provide comprehensive psychiatric consultation services for hospitalized patients. This position requires rotating weekends across the NorthShore/Swedish Hospitals.

The Psychiatry Consult Liaison APP will evaluate, diagnose, and manage psychiatric conditions in medically hospitalized patients while serving as an integral member of the inpatient behavioral health team. This position offers a highly collaborative practice environment with strong physician support and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care across multiple medical and surgical specialties.

The Psychiatry Consult Liaison APP will evaluate, diagnose, and manage psychiatric conditions in medically hospitalized patients while serving as an integral member of the inpatient behavioral health team. This position offers a highly collaborative practice environment with strong physician support and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care across multiple medical and surgical specialties.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments for hospitalized patients.

  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising psychiatrists and interdisciplinary care teams.

  • Manage psychiatric medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.

  • Provide consultation services to medical, surgical, and specialty inpatient units.

  • Participate in patient and family education regarding psychiatric diagnoses and treatment recommendations.

  • Collaborate closely with nursing staff, social workers, case managers, and medical providers to ensure coordinated patient care.

  • Document patient encounters and treatment plans within the electronic medical record.

  • Assist with discharge planning and transitions of care.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

  • Current Illinois Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure.

  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification preferred.

  • DEA registration and controlled substance license, or eligibility to obtain.

Physician Assistant

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

  • Current Illinois Physician Assistant licensure.

  • NCCPA certification required.

  • Previous psychiatry or behavioral health experience strongly preferred.

  • DEA registration and controlled substance license, or eligibility to obtain.

Preferred Experience
  • Prior inpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, or behavioral health experience.

  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.

  • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities.
