Overview & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Systems and Delivery Lead will play a critical role in advancing the firm's data utilization to drive decision making, improve the performance (execution and coordination of work) of our Civil Structural and Architectural (CSA) subconsultants on large capex projects. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with a passion for operations and a demonstrated ability to lead initiatives that integrate project data - including resource planning, labor curves, schedules, and staff availability - into the decision-making process to support continuous improvement.
Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Manager-level responsibility for resource planning
- Utilization of project data, developing reports and monitoring metrics, and utilizing data to assist decision-making for future Business Development efforts, specific project pursuits, and recruiting efforts.
- Provide mentoring to less experienced Project Managers and those transitioning from project engineering role (individual contributor) to Project Manager role on smaller projects.
- Attend department staff meetings and/or resource planning meetings with focus on CSA subconsultants' portions of projects, as needed.
Lead or support organization wide (or department specific) special projects
- Support Project Managers with project planning efforts (including potentially Work Based Structures (WBS) for subconsultant's work, engineering schedules for subcontractor's work, etc.).
- Lead the development and/or refinement of existing project specific KPI's.
- Lead the development of standard monthly reports (templates) for large capex projects.
- Develop Assistant Project Manager (APM) role for large capex projects.
- Develop reports in Vantagepoint for internal assessments of client profitability and strategic fit assessment.
- Develop project load curves for large capex projects.
Support Business Development efforts for large project pursuits with significant CSA scope of work
- Support Pursuit Manager (PUM).
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits for large projects with significant CSA scope.
- Support PUM with identification of subconsultants and obtain subconsultants proposals.
- Support PUM with proposal preparation.
Civil Engineering and/or CSA facilitator for execution of large capex projects
- Support KFI Project Manager during early engineering and project development stage of projects.
- Support KFI cost estimating efforts for CSA portion of project cost.
- Support KFI Project Manager with active engagement with Owner's project team - with focus on CSA portion of the project.
- Develop detailed scope of work (and RFP) and solicit proposals for potential subconsultants.
- Support KFI Project Manager with selection of subconsultants, on-boarding subconsultants to larger project team and getting contracts in place.
- Support KFI Project Manager by playing an active role in projects focused on management of subconsultant's work.
- QA/QC review of subcontractor's documents.
- Site trips during construction phase.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience contributing to projects in the engineering design and construction industry.
- Design and project management experience across a variety of markets.
- Experience collaborating with leadership and project teams to monitor KPI's, assess project performance and make recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective interaction and the ability to establish rapport and credibility both externally and internally.
- Ability to assimilate a range of ideas, programs, or alternatives into a set of recommendations.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders, facilitate alignment, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to synthesize information into executive-level presentations and present it clearly and effectively.
- Travel: position requires regular travel to KFI offices and client sites up to 25%
Preferred:
- Registration/Licensure strongly preferred.
- Deltek Vantagepoint experience.
Working Conditions
- Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.
