Job Summary

The CDL Class B Driver is responsible for safely transporting materials to customer locations while supporting warehouse and yard operations. This role involves a combination of driving, material handling, order fulfillment, inventory support, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have commercial driving experience, forklift experience, warehouse knowledge, and a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction. This position offers a temp-to-hire opportunity for candidates who demonstrate strong performance and reliability.

Job Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class B commercial vehicles to deliver materials to customer locations.
• Verify delivery routes and ensure timely delivery of products.
• Load, unload, and secure materials in accordance with safety and transportation regulations.
• Obtain customer signatures and maintain accurate delivery documentation.
• Communicate with supervisors regarding delivery status, delays, or issues throughout the day.
• Pick up customer returns and verify returned materials against supporting documentation.
• Retrieve local purchase orders and return all required paperwork.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Maintain compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies.
• Fuel and maintain assigned vehicles as required.
• Assist with warehouse operations including pulling orders, staging materials, stocking inventory, unloading freight, and supporting counter sales activities.
• Verify delivery accuracy and ensure all delivery documentation is completed and returned.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Provide professional customer service during all customer interactions.
• Support branch operations and perform additional duties as assigned.
• Work overtime as needed to support business requirements.

Job Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Must possess the required state-issued self-certification designation of Non-Excepted Interstate and provide proof.
• Minimum one year of Class B commercial driving experience.
• CDL must have been held for a minimum of one year.
• Minimum one year of sit-down forklift experience.
• Minimum one year of warehouse experience.
• Experience operating delivery vehicles and material handling equipment safely.
• Ability to use smartphones and mobile technology for communication and work-related tasks.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely throughout the workday.
• Commitment to following all safety procedures, DOT regulations, and company policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other basic computer applications.
• Experience working in construction materials, industrial supply, distribution, or related environments.

Work Experience

• At least one year of commercial Class B driving experience.
• At least one year of warehouse operations experience.
• At least one year of sit-down forklift operating experience.
