Job Summary

The Inventory & Materials Specialist is responsible for supporting shipping, receiving, inventory control, material handling, packaging, labeling, and logistics operations. This role ensures accurate inventory management, timely movement of materials, and efficient coordination of inbound and outbound shipments to support manufacturing, production, testing, and operational requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working collaboratively across multiple departments while maintaining inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibilities



  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy, quantity, and quality.
  • Review and confirm shipping documentation, including bills of lading and packing lists.
  • Package, label, and prepare finished products and materials for shipment according to company procedures and product requirements.
  • Coordinate and schedule inbound and outbound shipments with internal departments and external carriers.
  • Maintain inventory levels for production and operational materials while supporting established safety stock requirements.
  • Pick, stage, and deliver materials to production areas and designated inventory locations.
  • Process material transactions and maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP system.
  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Identify and assist in managing excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory.
  • Support supply chain operations, material handling, critical parts availability, and logistics activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve inventory issues, transfer discrepancies, and material shortages.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining inventory control, shipping, receiving, and logistics procedures.
  • Follow all safety policies, work instructions, and company procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Some college coursework preferred.
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control, materials management, or logistics preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing, medical device, scientific, or cGMP environment is preferred.


Work Experience



  • Experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, logistics, or materials control preferred.
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments preferred.
  • Medical device or related industry experience is a plus.
