Job Summary F3EA is seeking a qualified Master to support maritime operations aboard operational vessels supporting dynamic mission requirements. This position serves as the senior onboard authority responsible for the safe navigation, operation, management, and mission execution of the vessel while ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, company standards, and operational objectives. The Master maintains overall responsibility for vessel safety, personnel, cargo operations, environmental protection, crew management, and emergency response operations. Personnel in this role are expected to uphold F3EA operational standards while reinforcing a culture of professionalism, accountability, safety, mission execution, and operational discipline. Roles and Responsibilities
- Exercise overall command and management authority for vessel operations and onboard personnel
- Ensure safe navigation and operation of the vessel in accordance with COLREGs, maritime regulations, and principles of good seamanship
- Maintain vessel compliance with applicable Class, Flag State, ISM, ISPS, and environmental requirements
- Ensure vessel seaworthiness, stability, watertight integrity, cargo security, and operational readiness
- Verify adequate provisioning of fuel, food, water, and operational supplies prior to vessel operations
- Ensure safe manning requirements are met and verify crew certifications and qualifications
- Manage crew welfare, discipline, professional development, and operational performance
- Issue and enforce standing orders, bridge procedures, and operational guidance
- Serve as Ship Security Officer (SSO) and oversee implementation of vessel security procedures and drills
- Lead emergency response operations and command vessel-based emergency drills and exercises
- Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and risk management activities
- Ensure implementation and oversight of the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and associated maintenance programs
- Support implementation of the vessel Safety Management System (SMS) and operational procedures
- Ensure completion and maintenance of required documentation, logs, checklists, and risk assessments
- Coordinate effectively with vessel leadership, company representatives, clients, survey personnel, and third parties
- Promote safe work practices, environmental compliance, and operational accountability
- Support operational efficiency and mission success in high operational tempo environments
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of vessel operations and mission requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct supervisory responsibility for all onboard personnel, vessel departments, and operational activities.
Required Qualifications and Education
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) endorsed as Master appropriate to vessel requirements
- Valid STCW endorsements and required maritime certifications
- Extensive experience managing and operating operational vessels in maritime environments
- Knowledge of maritime navigation, vessel operations, cargo operations, maritime safety, and environmental compliance requirements
- Experience leading vessel emergency response and crew management activities
- Knowledge of ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and maritime regulatory requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work rotational schedules in maritime environments
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance
Preferred Qualifications and Education
- Experience supporting government maritime operations or defense-related missions
- Prior experience aboard offshore support vessels, research vessels, or similarly complex platforms
- Experience operating in high operational tempo maritime environments
- Prior military or government-contracted maritime experience
- Experience supporting security-sensitive or mission-critical maritime operations
Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Operational maritime and shipboard environment
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, vessel motion, and operational maritime activities
- Ability to climb ladders, access confined spaces, and work in physically demanding environments
- Extended periods standing watch and conducting vessel operational oversight
- Ability to support rotational or extended underway operations as required
