Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Manager is an APP with demonstrated leadership skills and clinical excellence. This individual provides operational and supervisory support for APPs in their area(s) and works collaboratively with the APP Center, department leadership and other key stakeholders to establish and maintain an optimized APP strategy and workforce plan. The APP Manager is responsible for direct oversight of APP Supervisors (~15 direct reports) and some practicing APPs (total roll-up of approx. 30-60 APPs). This position requires both administrative (20%) and clinical (80%) time. Actual split may vary depending on the number and work location of direct reports.

Responsibilities:
1. Strategy: Designs and implements an APP strategy that improves clinical care through optimizing the utilization of APPs in respective area based on internal and external benchmarks, survey data and data management tools.
2. Clinical Practice and Performance Improvement: Meets regularly with APP Center and department leadership to monitor APP performance metrics including productivity, utilization and access, and quality to identify opportunities for improvement. Develops and oversees implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures related to APP clinical practice and works with APP Supervisors and/or leadership to resolve concerns. Ensures adherence to APP regulatory processes (credentialing/privileging, internal standards, clinical protocols, compliance training, Collaborative Practice Agreement). Communicates and meets regularly with both APP Supervisors and APP clinical staff.
3. Human Resources: Implements leading practices in recruitment, onboarding, orienting, retaining, and mentoring of APP workforce. Ensures appropriately trained APPs are hired for scope of practice, patient population and roles/responsibilities. Completes personnel functions and disciplinary actions using hospital and departmental guidelines. Approves service schedules, PTO, leave requests, and payroll administration.
4. Finance: Supports department/division and APP Center in budgeting and forecasting of APP resources, including the impact on clinical or quality outcomes. Educates, monitors, and approves APP effort in TimeTrex. Ensure education is provided regarding optimal APP billing and documentation practices.
5. Professional Development: Assess learning needs of APP staff and students. Mentors and provides professional development opportunities for APP providers and students in areas of leadership, clinical excellence, patient centered care, education, research, quality improvement and organizational involvement.
