Finishing Technician I Location: Fact - Comstock Park, MI
Position Summary OTC Industrial Technologies is seeking a motivated and hands-on Finishing Technician I to provide repair, preventive maintenance, and technical support for customer equipment at both company facilities and customer sites. This position is ideal for mechanically and electrically inclined individuals who enjoy troubleshooting equipment, solving problems, and delivering exceptional customer service. Essential Responsibilities: Equipment Service and Repair
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain customer equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and ensure equipment operates efficiently.
- Rebuild and refurbish used equipment for resale.
- Prepare repaired and serviced equipment for shipment.
- Assemble special projects and equipment as required.
- Utilize electrical diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
Customer Support
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding equipment operation and repair.
- Participate in product demonstrations alongside sales representatives in both laboratory and field settings.
- Assist in establishing maintenance and repair service agreements.
Documentation and Recordkeeping
- Prepare service reports and document work performed.
- Maintain accurate records using company computer systems.
- Track and maintain demonstration equipment inventory and usage.
Training and Safety
- Participate in product and technical training programs.
- Assist with maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Identify and address safety concerns within the laboratory and work areas.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a skilled trade, maintenance, or related technical field.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, including occasional overnight travel.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to develop electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to learn equipment disassembly, diagnosis, repair, reassembly, and testing procedures.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and utilize company software systems for service documentation.
- Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to company insurance requirements.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks or willingness to obtain certification.
Preferred Experience Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
- Finishing processes and finishing equipment
- Pumps and pump motors
- Tubing and piping installation and routing
- Industrial maintenance or manufacturing environments
Work Environment This position may involve exposure to:
- Moving mechanical equipment
- Electrical systems
- Paint and solvent odors
- Airborne particles and fumes
- Industrial chemicals and coatings
