Spectra Tech, Inc. is hiring for an Engineer/Scientist 3 in Los Alamos, NM.
Position Overview
You will ensure the success of the team responsible for planning, managing requirements and interfaces, executing, testing, reporting status, and ultimately delivering a producible, Mark Quality design and product. At the Scientist 3 level, you will lead the planning, execution, and status reporting for product realization of polymer components. You will interface regularly with internal LANL organizations, external production agencies, and external customers to accomplish these activities. In addition, a Scientist 3 may perform cross-cutting work across multiple Polymer Product Realization Teams (PRTs), coordinate with Qualification, Test, and Evaluation (QTE), and support requirements evaluation and revision activities. This role also provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff supporting these efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Product Realization Leadership
- Lead planning, execution, and status reporting activities for polymer component product realization.
- Ensure successful delivery of producible, Mark Quality designs and products.
- Manage requirements, interfaces, testing, and execution activities throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support product realization efforts from conceptual design through qualified production.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to early-career scientists, engineers, and technical staff.
- Lead and influence multidisciplinary R&D teams consisting of scientists, engineers, technicians, and operations personnel.
- Support cross-cutting activities across multiple Polymer Product Realization Teams.
Collaboration & Communication
- Interface effectively with:
- Internal LANL organizations

Minimum Requirements
Technical Knowledge & Experience
- Significant knowledge and experience in one or more technical research and development disciplines.

Education & Experience
Lower Level Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university.
- 11 years of related experience.
- Research experience at a university, national laboratory, or equivalent directly related experience.
Higher Level Qualification
- Master's Degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university.
- 6 years of relevant experience.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with nuclear weapon system design and engineering, particularly U.S. Navy systems.

- Experience supporting product realization from conceptual design through qualified production.
- Active DOE Q Clearance, equivalent DoD clearance, or the ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance.
