Primary Responsibilities
The Charlotte AI Institute for research (CLTAI) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position focused on the intersection of AI, leadership, behavioral analytics, biometrics and explainable AI. The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives spanning AI-enabled leadership systems, multimodal behavioral analytics, human-centered AI, and translational AI applications. This position will operate collaboratively across the
Charlotte AI Institute and the Center for Leadership Science (
CLS) as well as the Center for Identification Technology Research (
CITeR).
* Conduct interdisciplinary research related to AI-enabled leadership assessment, behavioral analytics, organizational communication, and human-AI interaction.
* Contribute to the design, development, and validation of AI-enabled leadership analytics systems, including the Leadership Performance Dashboard and related multimodal behavioral AI tools.
* Conduct interdisciplinary research on video analytics, computer vision, large language models, and multimodal language models for applications in security and healthcare
* Conduct research involving multimodal AI methods such as:
Natural language processing
Biometric recognition
Interaction and temporal analytics
Emotion and sentiment analysis
Behavioral signal processing
Explainable AI approaches
Human-centered AI evaluation
* Support translational AI research initiatives involving government agencies, industry partners, and applied organizational settings in alignment with CITeR's Industry/University Cooperative Research Center model. ([Division of Research]

* Assist with development of datasets, benchmarking frameworks, validation studies, and reproducible AI research workflows supporting applied AI systems and human behavioral analysis.
* Participate in collaborative research initiatives addressing emerging challenges involving AI transparency, vulnerabilities, generative AI, and secure AI-enabled systems.
* Identifying grant opportunities from
NSF,
NIH, DoD, industry, and foundation sponsors
* Leading and supporting interdisciplinary proposal development and grant writing
* Coordinating collaborative research teams
* Assisting with strategic partnership and research infrastructure development
* Contribute to industry-engaged and translational AI initiatives involving leadership development, executive coaching technologies, biometrics, behavioral AI, and organizational analytics.
* Support data collection efforts, including drafting collection protocols and
IRB.
* Confer with the supervisor on overall research direction and strategy, but will exercise a considerable amount of independent judgment and original thinking in carrying out research that contributes to original knowledge and advances the University's reputation in research.
* Publish research results, in collaboration with their supervisor, in recognized journals and conferences as well as work with the supervisor on proposals for funding. The employee will share student mentoring responsibility with the supervisor and will participate in departmental seminars and other professional activities as assigned. |
