Shore United Bank is seeking a full-time Commercial Underwriter III to join our team. The Commercial Underwriter III will play a key role in evaluating and structuring commercial lending opportunities by underwriting moderately complex to complex loans while supporting the broader credit analysis function. In this role, you will collaborate across teams, apply advanced financial analysis to inform credit decisions, and help drive portfolio quality and performance. You will operate with a high degree of independence in a fast-paced environment where critical thinking, strong communication, and attention to detail are essential, ensuring timely insights, well-documented analysis, and full adherence to regulatory and internal policies. Essential Functions Include:
- Performs administrative duties as part of the credit analysis function of which the following are illustrative:
- Receives data on prospective and active borrowing accounts, i.e., financial statements, agency reports, and interview and investigation sheets.
- Analyzes data and evaluates the short- and long-run prospects of the individual, company, or real estate project.
- May make recommendations to appropriate personnel on the granting or denying of loans; prepares sufficient information to document recommendations.
- May suggest a loan grade after conducting a thorough credit analysis and documentation review.
- Provides thorough documentation of all financial analysis work, including ratios and other related information.
- Ensures that all credit analysis activities are conducted in accordance with prescribed lending policy.
- Ability to work independently and produce an analysis that requires minimal if any review or revision.
- Identifies and responds to opportunities to communicate affiliates products and services to promote the image of the affiliate and promote Shore Bancshares' community of companies' products and services to potential customers and referring those customers to the proper personnel.
- Achieves goals assigned to the Commercial Underwriter as part of the assigned department's annual operating plan.
- Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
- Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
- Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
- Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
- Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
- Demonstrates compliance awareness by completing all required regulatory and compliance training (e.g., BSA, CRA, ECOA) on or before deadlines, and actively supporting all policies, procedures, and practices that promote risk management, safety, and regulatory adherence

- Full-time.
- Exempt.
- Days of Work: Monday-Friday.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED equivalent.
- A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study preferred, or a minimum of 3-5 years' related experience and specialized financial analysis training.
- Minimum of 3-5 year's experience in a credit underwriting or credit analyst role
- An understanding of credit analysis equivalent to that which would be confirmed by RMA's Credit Analysis Certificate
- Proficient ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and draw conclusions based on common-sized, trend, comparative and UCA analyses
- Ability to accurately spread and analyze financial statements for various entity types
- Ability to identify source of repayment and perform collateral analysis, including an understanding of appraisal development and DCF cash flow analysis
- Intermediate knowledge of current lending and loan review regulations and banking regulations, procedures, and operations
Compensation:
- The pay range for this position is $81,600 to $110,200 annually.
- Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.
