Description

At Frontier, we are transforming healthcare. Our patients get access to the care they need quickly and efficiently while experiencing improved health outcomes for the first time in their life. Join us in shaping the future of healthcare!

TRANSFORM HEALTHCARE AND CREATE MASSIVE IMPACT

We build experiences people love by incorporating empathy, care and trust. We challenge the status quo to restore the patient-provider relationship, starting with a team that deeply cares about healthcare and each other.

We're looking for a Medical Assistant (MA) who is as comfortable running the front desk as they are running a phlebotomy draw. This role is the first face our members see and the last hand that steadies a busy clinic - someone highly organized, calm under pressure, and genuinely energized by keeping a fast-paced practice running smoothly for both patients and their paired Primary Care Provider (PCP).

Frontier Direct is growing! Come see why we were honored as an Inc. Best Workplaces for 2026!!

What you'll be doing:

Front Office & Administrative Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for members - greet, check in, and set the tone for a welcoming, professional visit.
  • Answer incoming calls, texts, and emails, responding to member inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments to keep provider panels running efficiently.
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing clinic communications, including follow-up outreach so members always feel like someone "has their back."
  • Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and membership information, and document all communications and administrative activity accurately in the EMR.
  • Coordinate and anticipate provider needs related to scheduling and patient flow, setting up the PCP and patient for a smooth visit.
  • Coordinate with outside contracted service providers (imaging, labs, specialists) to close referral loops.
  • Assist with required documentation, forms, and administrative paperwork tied to visits, referrals, and clinic operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and full compliance with HIPAA and clinic policy across all patient interactions and records.
  • Represent Frontier at community events, health fairs, and outreach programs to promote services and educate the public.
  • Perform other front office and administrative duties as assigned.
Back Office & Clinical Support
  • Perform phlebotomy, injections (SC/IM), and IV procedures to assist in patient diagnostics and treatment.
  • Take and document vital signs and assist providers with in-visit procedures to ensure smooth, efficient patient care.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and diagnostics as directed by the paired PCP.
  • Work collaboratively with your provider partner to restock exam rooms and manage inventory of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks to maintain cleanliness and organization in clinical areas.

This role requires use of a personal cell phone for efficient communication and collaboration with team members, patients, and stakeholders.

Requirements

Sound Like You?

  • 2+ years of experience in a medical office, outpatient clinic, or physician practice, with meaningful front-desk/administrative responsibility (scheduling, phones, check-in, insurance verification) - not just back-office clinical work.
  • Experience working in a clinic setting, ideally family practice or primary care.
  • Comfortable performing basic clinical tasks including vitals, phlebotomy, and injections (SC/IM); a skills assessment is part of our recruitment process.
  • Extensive experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) systems, including accurate documentation of both clinical and administrative activity.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills - able to make members feel cared for by phone, text, email, and in person.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment without losing composure.
  • Adaptable, reliable, team-oriented, and quick to learn new systems and processes.
  • Active BLS, or ability to obtain within the first 30 days of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Certified Medical Assistant preferred but not required if you bring extensive administrative/front-office experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the clinic as needed.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.

Benefits - Taking Care of You Now and Your Future

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Frontier Membership for you and your immediate family.
  • Voluntary insurance: short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, and other supplemental insurances.
  • 401(k) plan, with free access to financial wellness platforms offering financial advisors and personal finance tools.

Time Off

  • Accrued Paid time off policy, including up to 5 unplanned days off per year.
  • 9 additional company holidays.
  • Parental leave policies.
