Overview Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) teamis responsible fordelivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help buildthe clouddatacenters that power the world's largest online services. TheGlobal Datacenter Engineering Lease Electrical Directorwill manage the coordination of electrical/EPMS(Electrical Power Monitoring System)infrastructure requirements with internal stakeholders to support leased datacenter capacity and documentation processes. They will ensure alignment of electrical and EPMS infrastructure with Microsoft's global datacenter requirements, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors specializing in datacenter architecture to deliver solutions. This role also involvesfacilitatingthe development of Microsoft's datacenter lease standards, providing direction to the Global Lease Electrical SMEs, and overseeing multiple projects and process improvements. Responsibilities Serves as an expert in root cause analysis to help engineering teams identify highly complex problems. Identifies possible solutions to novel and complex problems across the lease portfolio. Advises others on key details to review when evaluating leased facilities. Provides technical input on contracts. Coordinates engineering system design decisions with internal and external stakeholders to account for platform-specific technology decisions Provides recommendations to organization leadership for difficult or complex decisions across leased porfolio based on complexity, financial impact, quality, reliability, and time duration. Acts as an expert resource to others on matters related to industry trends and advances in electrical engineering. Shares and acquires expert knowledge of deep technical areas or across multiple domains within their team and across teams. Advises others on how to document complex details about electrical scope within the leased portfolio. Determines which tools, technologies, or processes are required to successfully deliver on project requirements. Embody our cultureandvalues Qualifications RequiredQualifications: Doctorate in Electrical Engineering AND 3+ years Datacenter Electrical/EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring System) infrastructure experience OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering AND 6+ years Datacenter Electrical/EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring System) infrastructure experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering AND 8+ years Datacenter Electrical/EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring System) infrastructure experience OR equivalent experience. Background Check Requirements: Abilityto meet Microsoft,customerand/or government security screening requirements arerequiredfor this role. Registered/Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer (PE or equivalent) Inherent Availability, RAM Study Training and Development Experience Leased Datacenter Experience Experience and ability to influence without authority across engineering teams. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000.00 - $304,200.00 per year.
