Job Description: The LINK Club Academic Lead (Casual) provides coordination and oversight of academic services within the ACPS LINK Club 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) afterschool program. This role works closely with the ACPS Office of Out of School Time (OST) Management Team, school administration, teachers, and community partners to support high-quality academic programming for participating students. The Academic Lead supports instructional quality, staff collaboration, student attendance tracking, and overall program implementation. The Academic Lead reports to the ACPS OST Data and Curriculum Specialist and serves as the primary liaison between school staff, program staff and the OST Management Team to ensure smooth program operations and student success. This is a grant-funded, hourly intermittent position supported through the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) 21st CCLC grant. Program Commitment & Availability
- The LINK Club program runs from September 8, 2026 through June 4, 2027. A required onboarding and training session will take place in August prior to the start of programming.
- This position includes a combination of administrative responsibilities completed off-site and onsite program supervision and support. The Academic Lead is expected to maintain ongoing communication and coordination with OST leadership, school administration, and teachers throughout the program year.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- Valid Virginia Department of Education Teaching License
- Preferred:
- Current ACPS employee
- Experience working in afterschool or extended learning programs
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
- Experience using student data to support decision-making
- Comfort with Microsoft Office, Google platforms, and data entry systems
Essential Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership & Support
- Serve as the Academic Lead for an assigned LINK Club site
- Support implementation of the academic Power Hour (3 days a week)
- Collaborate with teachers to align academic support with student and school needs and ensure tutors are completing afterschool lesson plans prior to the lesson plan implementation and timesheet due dates
- Spearhead or team with LINK Club site coordinator to make student enrollment/withdrawal decisions
- Provide guidance and support to ACPS teachers/staff facilitating academic activities
- Coordinate with OST leadership and school administration regarding operations, student needs, and concerns
- Facilitate regular LINK Club tutor collaboration and planning meetings
- Help maintain a positive, student-centered learning environment
Collaboration & Partnerships
- Serve as the main point of contact between the school site, OST team, and co-applicant partners regarding academic programming and operational needs
- Support coordination related to participation and program expectations
- Assist with family engagement and student recruitment/retention efforts
Data & Program Operations
- Maintain accurate student attendance records and database entry
- Support required reporting and documentation
- Submit reports, timesheets, and required documents by deadlines
- Ensure compliance with ACPS policies and grant requirements
Staff Oversight
- Support oversight of ACPS teachers/staff participating in LINK Club programming
- Work with school leadership and OST management to address concerns or operational issues
- Assist with tutor recruitment and tutor substitute coverage as needed
- Approve and submit ACPS LINK Club staff timesheets by payroll deadlines

Compensation:
- Hourly Rate of $35/hour and approximately 5 hours a week, as a Casual employee
Clearances:
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
