The Traffic Signal Technician will support the Traffic Operations Branch within the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), assisting with traffic signal operations to improve road safety and reduce traffic congestion. Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) within six months of hire Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, an OSHA-approved Aerial Lift Certification within six months of hire Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, an IMSA Traffic Signal Level II Certification and Roadway Lighting Level I Certification within two years of hire

Job Contributions
Complete preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning traffic signal intersections and ITS equipment Technicians are required to be on-call each month, respond to traffic signal callouts in a timely manner, and perform emergency repairs Repairs include replacing faulty/damaged wiring and signal/ITS equipment, and ensuring the signal operates at optimal efficiency for the safety of drivers and pedestrians Review plans and specifications to ensure traffic signals are built per MCDOT/MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) standards, and work with contractors to provide technical information and solutions to problems Follow all safety procedures; use personal protective equipment (PPE) and practices per MCDOT policy Complete daily documentation of maintenance and trouble callouts on Cartegraph (operations asset management software) Respond to daily AZ811 tickets to locate underground traffic signals and ITS fiber optics facilities
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations.
