Summary:

Under the general direction of the designated Manager, the Architect II - Solutions is responsible for designing and delivering IT solutions within the Salesforce / Experience Cloud ecosystem that support the GPO (Group Purchasing Organization) business team. This role leverages the architectural roadmap and standards of the organization, ensures seamless integration with the existing CRM portfolio, and drives both the resolution of technical debt and the design of future-state solutions aligned to evolving business requirements. As a key member of the CRM Delivery team, this architect serves as the technical authority for Salesforce platform decisions and provides strategic direction for the continued maturity of our CRM capabilities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Solution Design & Architecture

  • Providestechnical leadership and architectural visionfor the Salesforce / Experience Cloud platform, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise standards.

  • Designs and documentsfuture-state architecturesthat address current business challenges and anticipate the evolving needs of the GPO business team.

  • Evaluates the existing Salesforce environment toidentify, prioritize, and remediate technical debt- improving platform performance, reliability, and supportability.

  • Develops feasibility analyses, business case justifications, and architectural options - effectively communicating trade-offs and recommendations to business stakeholders and development teams.

Business & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partners closely with theGPO business teamand other internal stakeholders to deeply understand business requirements, pain points, and strategic objectives.

  • Translates complex business needs into well-definedsystem and platform solutionswithin the Salesforce ecosystem (Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and related technologies).

  • Works with outside service providers, Salesforce consultants, and vendors to support ongoing CRM initiatives and platform enhancements.

Standards, Governance & Technical Leadership

  • Coordinates and contributes to the development and maintenance ofCRM architecture models, standards, patterns, and best practicesfor use across the CRM Delivery team and broader enterprise.

  • Providesdirection, mentorship, and technical guidanceto developers and team members working within the Salesforce platform.

  • Ensures solution designs comply with establishedarchitectural standards, security requirements, and Salesforce platform governanceguidelines.

  • Participates in enterprise-level strategic and operational planning, representing the CRM platform perspective.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Stays current withSalesforce platform releases, roadmap updates, and emerging capabilities(e.g., new Experience Cloud features, automation tools, AI integrations) to inform architectural decisions.

  • Fosters a culture ofinnovation and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to leverage native Salesforce capabilities and reduce custom complexity.

  • Serves as atrusted advisor and consultantto the CRM Delivery organization on matters of platform architecture and technical strategy.

Team & Operational Leadership

  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and overall leadership to direct reports.

  • Works closely with direct reports on strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and weekly status reporting.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Experience & Educational Requirements:

  • Requires aBS Degreein Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.

  • A minimum often (10) yearsof related and progressively responsible experience in IT architecture design and implementation.

  • Required:Significant hands-on experience with theSalesforce platform, includingService CloudandExperience Cloud(formerly Community Cloud).

  • Experience working within aCRM Delivery teamor similar product-aligned technology organization is strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience supportingGPO, healthcare, or pharmaceutical distributionbusiness functions is a plus.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Salesforce Application Architect

  • System Architect

  • Platform Developer II, or equivalent credentials.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of the Salesforce platform- particularly Service Cloud and Experience Cloud - including declarative configuration, custom development (Apex, LWC, Visualforce), integrations, and data architecture.

  • Proven ability to assess and resolve technical debtwithin an existing application, balancing short-term fixes with long-term architectural integrity.

  • Ability todesign future-state solutionsthat are scalable, well-documented, and aligned with both business goals and platform best practices.

  • Strong understanding ofbusiness requirements analysisand the ability to prepare architectural specifications from which applications will be designed and built.

  • Ability to direct the formulation, definition, and documentation of system architecture and objectives for assigned projects.

  • Strong leadership skills- experience leading matrixed projects, cross-functional teams, and assigned resources in a collaborative environment.

  • Ability to fosterinnovation and pragmatic problem-solving, encouraging "out of the box" thinking while ensuring practical, supportable outcomes.

  • Excellentcommunication skills, both oral and written - able to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical business audiences.

  • Strongorganizational, analytical, and conceptual skills- able to evaluate business problems and apply platform knowledge to identify appropriate solutions.

  • Effectiveinterpersonal skillsand a demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team player across business and technology stakeholders.
