Position Overview

Chromalloy San Diego (CSD) is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This is a junior-level role well-suited for someone early in their finance or accounting career who is eager to learn manufacturing finance in a hands-on environment. Reporting to the CSD Finance Manager, the analyst will help bridge Operations, IT, and Finance by supporting cost tracking, inventory reconciliation, and reporting processes - with a strong emphasis on job costing and labor utilization. The right candidate is curious, organized, and excited to grow their skills while contributing to meaningful process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Job Costing Support

  • Assist in maintaining cost accounting records, including job costing, WIP tracking, labor utilization, and manufacturing margin reporting.
  • Support month-end close activities, including reconciliation of manufacturing and inventory accounts.
  • Help prepare reports on manufacturing variances, inventory valuation, and cost drivers for Finance management review.
  • Investigate discrepancies between standard and actual costs under the guidance of the Finance Manager.

Inventory Management

  • Assist with inventory cost tracking, period-end reconciliation, and valuation review.
  • Help ensure inventory records in the ERP system are accurate and up to date.
  • Support cycle count programs and coordinate with operations on adjustments and corrections.
  • Partner with the ERP team to validate inventory and job cost reports and flag data quality issues.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a day-to-day liaison between Operations, IT, and Finance - helping translate operational activity into financial data.
  • Work closely with the ERP team to support accurate reporting for inventory and job costs.
  • Assist production and operations teams with cost visibility requests and ad hoc data pulls.
  • Support the Finance Manager and site leadership with ad hoc analysis and special projects.

Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Help maintain and update standard cost and labor reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Identify manual or repetitive tasks that could be simplified or automated; support implementation of approved improvements.
  • Assist in documenting processes and best practices for cost accounting and inventory management.
  • Explore AI tools and ERP features to help reduce manual work and improve reporting efficiency.

Qualifications
Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or expected graduation within 6 months).
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or operations finance; internship experience counts.
  • Basic understanding of cost accounting concepts (job costing, WIP, inventory valuation).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas).
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to dig into data to find and fix discrepancies.
  • Good communication skills and comfort working across teams with non-Finance colleagues.
  • Organized and self-motivated - able to manage tasks and meet deadlines with moderate supervision.

Preferred

  • Exposure to ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Epicor, or similar) through coursework, internship, or prior role.
  • Interest in manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial finance.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, SmartView, or other reporting tools.
  • Any exposure to AI tools or process automation concepts is a plus.

What You'll Learn & How You'll Grow

  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing cost accounting in a real aerospace MRO environment.
  • Exposure to ERP systems, financial close processes, and cross-functional finance operations.
  • Mentorship from the CSD Finance Manager with a clear path to increased responsibility.
  • Opportunity to contribute to automation and AI-driven process improvement initiatives from day one.
