Position Title: CAD/CAM PROGRAMMER

Position Summary: Under limited supervision, create CNC programs using Siemens NX software for multi-axis CNC Mill machines. As well as, to program Multi Axis Lathe machines. Use Vericut software for final product verification. CNC programs will be created for manufacturing components and job specific fixturing.

Reports to: Manufacturing Support Services Manager or Operations Group Leader

Personnel: Not applicable.

Duties:

  • Using Siemens NX2506 & Vericut software's. With the assistance of our Tooling Engineers, select the appropriate cutting tools and speeds/feeds for a variety of materials (inconel, aluminum, steel, titanium, etc.) to create CNC programs and instructions used to run a CNC machine.
  • Verify and simulate programs to CAD models to ensure accuracy.
  • Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to determine the appropriate machine tool, work holding and cutter selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
  • Plan, design, and produce work holding set-ups.
  • Write, store, and modify original and/or existing CNC programs to enhance efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot programs and processes.
  • Focus on continuous improvement through increased throughput and reduced changeover time.
  • Coordinate with other functional areas as needed to implement and change CNC programs.
  • Familiar with ERP software, we use Visual Manufacturing as our ERP software.

Job Qualification Requirements:

Educational Experience - Associates degree in Machining Technology or equivalent relevant work experience.

Experience -

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in CNC programming.
  • Expert knowledge of programming software especially within Siemens NX for 3 and 5 axis machining. Horizontal and Vertical spindle machines.
  • Working knowledge of Vericut for lathe and mill-turn verification applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of G-code.
  • Utilize machine probing for in-process part measurement.
  • The ability to apply mathematical functions knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
  • Experience in production and prototyping environments.
  • Experience with computer applications including Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Self-managed, self-starter able to work well within a team environment or individually as needed.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

Physical Demands - The employee is required to:

  • stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor
  • exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
  • exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

Certification Required - N/A

Visual Acuity - Accommodation required for reading written instructions, blueprints, and computer screen

Hearing Ability - Accommodation required to communicate with employees.

Working Conditions - Normally works in an office environment may cccasionally be subject to:

  • shop floor environment
  • high noise levels from operating machines
  • physical hazards from moving equipment and production components
  • breathing fumes, dust and mist
  • skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.

The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
