What You Can Expect

At ENGIE, we believe the energy transition starts with people who show up every day ready to make a difference. As a Senior PV Technician, you'll help keep solar systems operating at peak performance across our Midwest portfolio-supporting reliable, clean renewable energy generation for our clients.

This is a field-based, multi-site role responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a diverse fleet of solar assets, supporting commercial rooftop and ground-mounted PV systems up to ~5 MW.

You will work across a portfolio of operating assets (no residential work), diagnosing issues, restoring performance, and ensuring systems operate safely and reliably.

This is not a stationary role - you will support sites primarily across Illinois, with travel throughout the Midwest. You'll gain exposure to a variety of operating environments while building deep expertise in system performance, root cause analysis, and field-based problem solving.

You will serve as a trusted technical partner to clients, communicating findings, and recommending solutions to maintain system performance.

What You Will Do

You'll spend most of your time in the field performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work to restore performance and improve reliability across multiple sites. You'll also partner with clients and the Regional Service Manager to communicate findings, recommend solutions, and document completed work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to trouble tickets in a timely and efficient manner
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance and repair activities on PV systems
  • Troubleshoot system issues, including inverters, arrays, and communications equipment
  • Service and update networking, DAS, and related hardware/software
  • Develop work scopes for repairs that require subcontracted support
  • Review preventative maintenance reports, identify follow-up corrective actions, and partner with the Regional Service Manager on execution plans
  • Maintain detailed service documentation, including parts, tools, mileage, time, and expenses using company systems

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum five (5) years of hands-on experience supporting commercial, industrial, or utility-scale PV systems (installation only or residential only experience is not sufficient for this role)
  • Strong understanding of electrical and safety standards, including NEC, NFPA 70, and OSHA 10
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and diagnose PV system performance issues, including root cause analysis across arrays, inverters, and communication systems
  • Experience monitoring system performance data and identifying underperformance, faults, and outages
  • Working knowledge of commissioning, maintenance, and repair of solar generation systems, including networking and DAS/SCADA components
  • Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining strong communication with clients, peers, and leadership, including clear documentation of findings and recommendations
  • Experience working within O&M or performance-based service agreements, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and site access requirements
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document technical findings and recommendations

Additional Details

  • Field-based role requiring frequent travel (90% (day travel), with up to 50% overnight stays) toclient sites, primarily within Illinois, with occasional support in MN and WI and other regions if operational needs require support
  • Company vehicle provided; valid U.S. driver's license + clean driving record required
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Ability to work in a field environment, including rooftops and exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs and perform physical field work
  • Must meet attendance expectations and manage multiple assignments with accuracy
