Symetra has an exciting opportunity for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join the team working on our new Stop Loss platform.

About the role

In this role you will focus on automated test coverage for the new Stop Loss platform.

What you will do



  • Design, build, and expand automated test coverage for the new Stop Loss platform
  • Develop and maintain practical, scalable regression test suites to ensure application quality
  • Contribute to and enhance existing test automation solutions based on team and platform needs
  • Leverage and extend Symetra's QE automation platform as it is implemented, aligning with established standards and practices
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to identify testing gaps and improve coverage
  • Ensure automation is efficient, maintainable, and integrated into CI/CD workflows to support continuous delivery

Compensation

Salary Range: $106,400 - $177,300 base plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who You Are:



  • High School Diploma is required, plus a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 6-9 years of relevant experience in test automation, quality engineering, or related roles
  • Hands-on experience building or contributing to automated test coverage for applications or platforms
  • Strong understanding of test automation fundamentals, with the ability to create effective regression test suites independently
  • Experience with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar) across UI, API, or integration testing
  • Ability to design resilient, maintainable tests for rapidly evolving products without creating brittle test suites
  • Comfortable adopting and extending existing test automation platforms, rather than building frameworks from scratch
  • Experience working within or enhancing enterprise QA automation platforms or shared testing frameworks
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with developers and QA teams to improve test coverage and quality
  • Proficiency using AI-assisted tools to support test creation, debugging, automation development, and code understanding
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and continuous improvement in test automation
