Summary

The System Education Pharmacist is a registered pharmacist who is responsible for developing and providing education and competency activities for pharmacy personnel under the supervision of the System Pharmacy Education Manager. This role will be responsible to promote education, training, and quality outcomes. In collaboration with their manager, they will ensure compliance with regulatory agencies including but not limited to: accreditation agencies, CHFS, DEA, and applicable State Boards of Pharmacy.

Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a System Education Pharmacist to join our team. This opportunity is a Hybrid role, working remotely and on-site at our Central Pharmacy in LaGrange KY!

  • Collaborates and assists System Pharmacy Education Manager with onboarding, orientation, and training of new hires.
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and promotes education, training, competency assessments, and performance improvement of healthcare professionals on updates in the applicable area of expertise, as deemed necessary.
  • Serves as a system pharmacist resource for training of pharmacy EHR, automation, and other supporting pharmacy systems.
  • Conducts task-related competencies for pharmacy personnel to certify appropriate education has been delivered.
  • Coordinates scheduling of in-services and other educational opportunities as they may arise.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies education methods that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).
  • Provides presentations, publications, and other informative activities relating to any educational needs of the organization.
  • Assists System Pharmacy Education Manager and/or pharmacy leadership team to develop and maintain mandatory annual compliance and regulatory training requirements to assure sustained excellence in performance and competency.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging pharmacy trends, regulations, and evidence-based practices and facilitates dissemination of information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Travels to sites to provide education or in services, as required.
  • Supports training and delivers curriculum for internal and external BH associated technician programs, in partnership with System Pharmacy Education Manager.
  • Evaluates all aspects of pharmacist, pharmacy technician and all other pharmacy personnel education processes, including the assessment of staff learning needs, development of curriculums, and implementation of educational programs/offerings.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises procedures, teaching records, performance checklists, and orientation competency maps.
  • Develops content for continuing education as educational needs/opportunities for the department are identified.
  • Works in conjunction with pharmacy operational and clinical teams for creation of educational content for any operational (e.g system changes) and/or clinical (e.g dosing platforms) related updates or changes.
  • Develops and coordinates pharmacy performance improvement initiatives, including those designed to measure and improve the timely, safe, and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, and appropriate monitoring of drug therapy.
  • Analyzes outcomes of educational programs/offerings to ensure compliance and incorporates staff feedback to improve orientation maps and develop continuing education.
  • Conducts surveys to gather feedback on any educational/training programs and process changes.
  • Attends conferences and/or workshops as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy required.

  • At least three years of job-related experience in a community or hospital pharmacy required.

  • BPS board certification preferred.

  • Completion of PGY-1 or PGY2 ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Residency preferred.

  • Must obtain Kentucky Board of Pharmacy and Indiana Board of Pharmacy license or willing and eligible to achieve within 6 months.
