Overview
As a Clinical Specialty Pharmacist, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate medication management for patients with complex conditions. You'll collaborate with providers, coordinators, and patients to deliver high-touch specialty pharmacy services, while upholding our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Scope of the Role
Clinical review and verification of specialty prescriptions in EPIC (Compass Rose/Willow). New-start counseling, ongoing adherence support, and patient education. Drug interaction checks and coordination of labs or monitoring with provider offices. Collaboration with intake/onboarding and account coordinators on prior authorizations, benefits investigations, and refill timing. Documentation aligned with URAC-quality workflows and support for metrics and process improvement.
Service Lines
Oncology: Oral oncolytics and supportive therapies, with close coordination with oncology clinics. Multispecialty: Includes rheumatology, neurology (including MS), gastroenterology, dermatology, pulmonology, and infectious diseases. Therapies are high-touch and benefit from close follow-up.
What We're Looking For
Strong clinical judgment with specialty experience in at least one of the service lines listed. Patient-first communication skills and comfort managing complex coordination with providers and payers. Reliability with EPIC workflows and comfort working from queue-based metrics. Team mindset-pharmacists partner closely with coordinators, patients, and providers to keep starts and refills moving. Preferred: Prior exposure to URAC-aligned documentation, REMS programs, and appeals support.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy (minimum requirement). Licensure: Active pharmacist license in the state of practice. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant pharmacy experience. Certifications:
