The University of Iowa Special Education Program has an open Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in the areas of literacy intervention, reading disabilities, teacher professional development, and/or statistical analysis. The scholar will conduct research and support an ongoing federally funded project-an Education Innovation and Research (EIR) grant-to implement and evaluate a computer-delivered reading intervention across grades 3-5. The project will require travel throughout Iowa and to other states. The position is for one year and is renewable each year of federal funding, with an estimated total appointment of three years. Details: The Postdoctoral Scholar will assist with activities related to Project Skyword, a federally funded cluster-randomized trial evaluating the WordFlight reading intervention across approximately 80 schools and 5,000 students in grades 3-5. Duties include coordination with school sites and key personnel; data analysis and interpretation; fidelity monitoring; and dissemination of findings. Additional duties include contributing to grant proposal writing; co-authoring research papers; presenting findings at conferences; and assisting with annual reports for the federal award. The scholar will supervise one or more graduate students who assist in these research-related activities. Travel throughout Iowa and to other states is required. Appointment: One-year appointment, renewable each year of federal funding across the three-year project period.
