The MFC Nuclear Qualification & Training Specialist develops, implements, and evaluates technical training and qualification programs using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) in support of DOE and INL requirements. This position applies operational and technical expertise to analyze training needs, develop instructional materials, conduct training and evaluations, and maintain qualification programs that support safe and effective nuclear operations. The role supports classroom, on-the-job, simulator, and performance-based training activities across MFC programs and facilities while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory, procedural, and operational requirements. Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain technical facility-specific training and qualification programs using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
- Analyze job performance requirements and operational needs to identify training gaps and determine appropriate training solutions.
- Develop learning objectives, lesson plans, training materials, qualification standards, examinations, and evaluation criteria to ensure staff are qualified to perform their duties in accordance with regulations and procedures. Design training to obtain high levels of proficiency and retention.
- Conduct classroom, on-the-job, simulator, and performance-based training and evaluations to ensure personnel are qualified to safely and effectively perform assigned duties.
- Develop, administer, grade, and evaluate written, oral, and performance examinations and maintain examination question banks in accordance with program requirements.
- Review technical procedures, reports, proposals, and other appropriate documents to determine their impact on the training programs and to make recommendations for implementation or revision based on needs or problems observed during operational or training evolutions. Implement approved recommendations.
- Partner with subject matter experts, operations personnel, engineering staff, and management to ensure training programs accurately reflect facility procedures, operational expectations, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in support activities as assigned, including serving on assessment teams, investigation teams, benchmarking teams, and collaborate with laboratory training organizations.
- Evaluate training programs to ascertain that requirements are met and that the programs are vigorous and are accomplishing the goals established for delivery of training that prepares employees to perform their jobs. Conduct self-assessment activities required by company procedures, using results to improve the training programs. Track deficiencies and provide timely completion of actions that correct/mitigate deficiencies. Document and implement required corrective measures if needed.
- May coordinate activities to accomplish goals with other trainers.
- Mentor junior staff as needed.

Minimum Requirements:
- Level 3: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field in industrial education, education, engineering, or another technical field, 5 years of experience. Master's and 2 years of experience. PhD and 2 years of experience. A combination of relevant experience and education will be considered.
- Level 4: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field in industrial education, education, engineering, or another technical field, 9 years of experience. Master's and 6 years of experience. PhD and 4 years of experience. A combination of relevant experience and education will be considered.
- Relevant experience must be in technical facility (commercial or Department of Energy (DOE)) training programs or industry.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

- Experience developing and delivering technical or nuclear training programs
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional methodologies

- Strong facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills in technical environments

Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is Level 3 ($79,344 - $136,356)/ Level 4 ($95,256 - $195,288). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment.
