Job Summary

This position serves as a senior technical resource responsible for the administration, support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational reliability of complex IT Facilities and clinical support technologies within a healthcare environment.

The incumbent supports mission-critical healthcare technologies and associated infrastructure including physical and virtual servers, distributed applications, integrated healthcare technology platforms, RTLS technologies, communication platforms, surveillance platforms, patient safety systems, digital signage platforms, and supporting appliances.

Responsibilities include system administration, incident response, outage coordination, troubleshooting complex operational issues, system maintenance, upgrades, patching, monitoring, documentation, vendor coordination, change management activities, and after-hours operational support. The position is responsible for maintaining secure and reliable system operations while supporting clinical, operational, patient safety, and security workflows.

The incumbent works independently to diagnose and resolve system, server, application, appliance, integration, wireless, network-related, and API-related issues across interconnected healthcare technology platforms. This role also supports project implementations, evaluates operational impacts of system changes, and assists with maintaining system availability and performance in complex production healthcare environments.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Ability to obtain and maintain vendor-specific training or certifications related to supported technologies as operationally required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent experience and or training.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience supporting enterprise IT systems within a healthcare or mission-critical operational environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience supporting server infrastructure, distributed systems, and enterprise healthcare technology platforms in a production environment.
  • Experience administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining Windows Server infrastructure, virtualized environments, and server-based applications supporting operational healthcare systems.
  • Experience supporting integrated healthcare technologies, infrastructure deployments, system upgrades, and operational implementations involving network-connected applications, appliances, and supporting technologies.
  • The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of healthcare technology platforms, server infrastructure, distributed systems, and supporting operational technologies within complex healthcare environments. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills involving server, application, appliance, integration, wireless, and network-related issues impacting mission-critical healthcare technologies. The incumbent should possess working knowledge of high availability environments, system monitoring, certificate management, secure communications, and operational support practices related to healthcare technology systems and infrastructure. Experience supporting wired and wireless-connected technologies, RTLS platforms, surveillance platforms, APIs, and network-dependent operational systems is highly desirable. Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to coordinate effectively with infrastructure teams, networking teams, wireless engineering teams, vendors, clinical departments, and operational stakeholders within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant technical certifications related to Microsoft Server administration, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, healthcare technologies, surveillance platforms, RTLS technologies, communication systems, or supported operational technologies are preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain vendor-specific certifications or technical training related to supported technologies as operationally required.
  • College degree, technical training, and/or relevant industry certifications related to infrastructure, networking, healthcare technologies, or supported operational systems.
  • Experience supporting integrated healthcare technology platforms, infrastructure, and operational systems within a hospital or complex healthcare environment, with focus on system reliability, operational support, and production system availability.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities, support activities, incidents, and project-related tasks within a complex healthcare technology environment. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently and effectively during outages, maintenance activities, upgrades, implementations, and other time-sensitive operational events impacting mission-critical healthcare technologies and services. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for documenting technical procedures, coordinating operational activities, supporting change management efforts, and communicating technical information clearly to technical teams, vendors, leadership, clinical departments, and operational stakeholders. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, collaboration, sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively across cross-functional healthcare and technology teams in a fast-paced operational environment.

Department Overview

The IT Facilities Technical Support Services team is responsible for the administration, support, maintenance, and operational reliability of critical healthcare technology systems supporting clinical operations, patient safety, security, communication, and facility operations across UC Davis Health.
Supported technologies include surveillance platforms, RTLS technologies, lenel technologies, communication systems, infant protection systems, nurse call technologies, digital signage platforms, and associated server and appliance infrastructure.
The team supports daily operational incidents, service requests, outages, upgrades, maintenance activities, and project implementations while coordinating closely with clinical departments, operational stakeholders, infrastructure teams, vendors, wireless engineering teams, networking teams, and IT leadership.
The environment is highly operational and requires strong troubleshooting skills, independent judgment, effective communication, and the ability to support mission-critical healthcare technologies in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Work Environment
