Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking an experienced Image Processing Scientist to operationalize satellite-based image processing systems through multi-sensor data.
  • Develop and implement Satellite Derived Bathymetry (SDB) products using various imagery sources, methods, and tools. Imagery will include commercial and Landsat data.
  • Conduct verification and field data collection for SDB products
  • Harmonize and integrate multi-sensor satellite imagery with varying characteristics and resolutions
  • Perform radiometric, atmospheric, spectral, and geometric image corrections and calibrations
  • Design and deploy large-scale end-to-end image processing workflows and automation solutions
  • Analyze workflow outputs and generate operational environmental monitoring products from satellite data
  • Research and develop innovative methods for satellite data applications and emerging missions
  • Apply expertise in electro-optical satellite systems, sensor characterization, and imagery validation procedures
  • Conduct commercial satellite data analysis while supporting industry and stakeholder requirements
  • Contribute to proposals, funding efforts, technical documentation, publications, and conference presentations

Required Qualifications:

  • PHD in technical field related to Remote Sensing.
  • Experience over 25 years Knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of remote sensing, physical geography/ecology, with image analysis/interpretation/processing and programming skills.
  • Working in a teamwork environment and being able to take direction/feedback from multiple people with effective communication of technical information, both written and oral is required.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and optimize complex image processing algorithms.
  • Skills in designing and deploying large-scale automated workflows across multiple computing environments.
  • Competency in machine learning and deep learning framework implementation.
  • Skills in conducting independent research and developing innovative methodologies.
  • Ability to write high-impact peer-reviewed publications and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in developing compelling figures, graphics, and visualizations for proposals and publications.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience preparing and presenting to a technical audience.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and shell scripting for geospatial data analysis
