The Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Nurse Coordinator guides patients and donors through one of the most complex and life-changing journeys in medicine. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
2. Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Certified Nurse (TCTCN) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.
3. Obtain certification in BLS within 30 days
EXPERIENCE:
4. Three (3) years nursing experience
5. One (1) year of oncology experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing
2. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).
EXPERIENCE:
3. Prior experience with hematology/oncology
4. Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be construed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Assures the delivery of comprehensive stem cell transplant and cellular therapy services, including autologous and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant and immune effector cell therapies (e.g., CAR-T), through coordination of and direct or indirect provision of expert nursing care.
2. Coordinates and monitors all phases of transplant and cellular therapy care, including referral intake, pre-therapy evaluation, treatment planning, conditioning/lymphodepletion, cell infusion, post-therapy monitoring, survivorship, and end-of-life care as appropriate.
3. Serves as the primary RN clinical coordinator for stem cell transplant and cellular therapy patients, acting as a liaison between patients, caregivers, physicians, inpatient units, outpatient clinics, apheresis, laboratory services, and ancillary departments.
4. Coordinates transplant and cellular therapy-specific workups, including required testing, consultations, and clearances, ensuring timely completion and communication of patient readiness to the multidisciplinary team.
5. Collaborates with financial counselors, social work, and transplant/cellular therapy leadership to facilitate completion of insurance authorization, financial assessments, and therapy-specific requirements.
6. Collaborates with managers, physicians, advanced practice providers, and external agencies to implement the individualized plan of care; assists with referrals, problem solving, and removal of barriers to timely transplant or cellular therapy delivery.
7. Routinely monitors clinic, infusion, and apheresis schedules and adjusts coordination activities to support efficient patient flow and adherence to therapy timelines.
8. Participates in transplant and cellular therapy-related inpatient rounds, discharge planning, tumor boards, and multidisciplinary conferences as appropriate to obtain and communicate patient-specific clinical information.
9. Coordinates long-term follow-up care for transplant and cellular therapy patients, including communication with referring and local physicians.
10. Maintains a retrievable patient tracking system that includes key transplant and cellular therapy data such as patient demographics, therapy type, treatment status, and follow-up requirements.
11. Maintains ongoing written and verbal communication with referring institutions and providers regarding patient progress and care transitions.
12. Assists patients and caregivers with completion of healthcare-related documentation (e.g., FMLA, disability, return-to-work/school forms).
13. Applies the nursing process to transplant and cellular therapy patients and caregivers based on clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, and regulatory requirements.
14. Provides comprehensive education to patients and caregivers regarding stem cell transplant and cellular therapy processes, risks, side effects, symptom monitoring, caregiver responsibilities, and emergency escalation pathways.
15. Evaluates the effectiveness of education and modifies teaching plans to address high-risk or complex patient needs.
16. Develops and maintains transplant- and cellular therapy-specific patient and caregiver education materials.
17. Coordinates and/or participates in appropriate response to life-threatening emergencies related to transplant or cellular therapy complications.
18. May provide hands-on patient care in clinic, infusion, or apheresis areas, including nursing assessments, assisting with procedures, phlebotomy, IV therapy, triage of incoming patient calls, and proactive outreach to high-risk patients and caregivers.
19. Demonstrates accountability for nursing practice, maintains required competencies, and identifies individual learning needs related to transplant and cellular therapy care.
20. Participates in quality improvement, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance activities related to stem cell transplant and cellular therapy programs, incorporating outcomes and clinical research into practice.
21. Develops, revises, and adheres to established standards of care, standards of practice, policies, and procedures relevant to transplant and cellular therapy services.
22. Participates in clinical research activities related to hematopoietic stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.
23. Provides feedback as requested for employee performance evaluation and assists with orientation and mentoring of new staff.
