The candidate for this position will be based out of one of our Central Region offices and will manage environmental compliance during the development and execution portion of renewable assets and powered land on the central region including MISO, SPP, ERCOT and related ISO regions. The candidate should be able to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment, take direction, and complete tasks in a thorough and efficient manner. The candidate must be able to work independently and be self-driven to accomplish goals and objectives, while maintaining oversight of several construction projects at a time. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Environmental Compliance Project Manager candidate will be responsible for overseeing environmental compliance during renewable project construction and maintaining compliance with permit conditions issued at local, state and federal levels.
- Develop environmental compliance programs for each project encompassing all local, state and federal permitting requirements.
- Manage and perform field audits, reporting, and monitoring for construction projects and renewable energy facilities.
- Review and prepare technical reports and providing quality assurance and quality control of project documents with a focus on compliance of permit conditions, procedures, and regulatory agency policies and regulations for projects in development stage through execution stage
- Working closely with EPC and contractors to ensure project compliance, providing guidance, interpretation, and requirements.
- Support project legal and finance teams with permitting and environmental diligence
- Track corporate environmental reporting and obligations
- Provide handoff transition to operational compliance teams.
- Review cost budgets, proposals, invoicing, work plans, and execution strategies.
- Manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines
- Project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Coordinate with local, state and federal agencies on the project's behalf.
- Present and develop training materials and documents
- Support stakeholder relations team in interactions related to the public.
- Mentor junior staff members and delegate responsibilities.
- Provide support and reporting to health and safety teams.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCY
- Tipically 4-8 years of project management experience with multi-disciplinary environmental compliance projects and proven responsibility with scope / schedule / budget. Preferred experience in the renewables industry.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulatory agency laws, regulations, and permitting requirements.
- Detailed knowledge of Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater regulations, compliance strategies and environmental engineering.
- Experience in environmental auditing and regulatory audits.
- Advanced knowledge of multimedia compliance including NEPA, USACE, CWA, DOT, SPCC and Waste management, water quality, construction / industrial / municipal stormwater, air quality, T&E species, USFW, and Historical Resources
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Engineering, Environmental Science, or another related field is preferred.
- Experience in providing leadership to diverse project teams on high-pressure, high-visibility projects.
- Advanced computer skills with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as geospatial software and field data collection applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and delegate.
- Leadership and strong ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Understanding project risk management.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet timelines.
- Conscientious and detail-oriented with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good judgment and sound decision-making skills.
- Staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
- Will be partial office and field based.
- Travel to projects and overnight stays approximately 30% of the time
- Valid state driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs and ability to maneuver in steep grades and muddy conditions
- Adherence to AES safety rules and performance expectations
