Description

The Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University is seeking a part-time Lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach CSHD 163. This course is designed to provide graduate students and upper-level undergraduate students with an introduction to current research and theories in the area of child development through the first two years. Topics covered include genetic inheritance; development of sensory and motor systems; perception; early learning; early social interaction; attachment, including normative and atypical development. This course is scheduled to be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-1:15 pm.


The mission of the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development is to enhance the lives of children and families in diverse communities and contexts using collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches in ways that reflect the integration of research and practice - understood in the context of culture and community. The department has undergraduate and graduate programs in several areas of developmental science and applied human development. Our teaching also serves students in other Tufts departments and schools (e.g., Psychology, Computer Science, Community Health, Urban & Environmental Policy and Planning). The Department aims to prepare students to work with culturally diverse children and families in a variety of clinical, educational, research, and policy-oriented settings. The Department also reflects Tufts' university-wide commitment to active citizenship and to social justice. Qualifications

Expertise in infancy. Doctorate and college-level teaching experience preferred.
