DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on general electrical work in various buildings and surrounding grounds at Fort Indiantown Gap. As a Electrician 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Electrical Installation: Install and maintain electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures
  • System Repair: Locate and correct power failures and short circuits
  • Line and Conduit Work: Run new electrical lines and lay out conduits including measuring, cutting, and bending
  • Fixture and Unit Service: Install lighting fixtures, replace components, and service air conditioning units
  • Blueprint Reading: Read blueprints and install wiring according to instructions
  • Tool Maintenance: Maintain tools and equipment through cleaning, oiling, and adjustments

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • This may change based on operational changes.
    • Overtime as needed
  • This position is considered essential and will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap Air National Guard Airbase.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
