Job Details:
Job Summary: Extensive contact and interface with all areas of the business: Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, Quality, Configuration Management, Delivery Management, and Program Management. Read and interpret BOMs, engineering planning, and analyze production workflow for multiple products. Usage of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to create demand, Purchase Requisitions, Work Orders, Materials Management, and Planning. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management of assigned commodities for various projects and products
- Create material demand for prototype/LRIP product builds
- Ensure parts and/or materials are available for Engineering to perform the work
- Kit all the materials for prototype builds
- Coordinate with production planning and suppliers when necessary
- Prepare and authorize purchase requisitions
- Evaluate purchase requisitions for materials and services of a technical or specialized nature and confers with departments regarding requirements, specifications, quantity, quality, and delivery dates.
- Utilizes, tracks, and manages P-Card purchases
- Follows-up and expedites IRAD orders as required
- Creates and tracks metrics for material schedules, work orders, and purchase orders
- Evaluate MRP reports and analyze impact of changes to engineering schedule
- Interpret drawing tree structures and build order relationships
- Coordinate with Engineering, Program Management, Product Line Management, and Purchasing on engineering changes and priority changes which may impact outsourcing vendors and engineering schedules for prototypes and product transition.
- Accountable for the accurate purchase of material based on the Engineering requirements.
- Communicate to Purchasing all major project changes of the Bills of Materials (BOM) and follow through to closure for prototypes and product transition.
- Hybrid work environment (3 days/week)
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent, plus two years of progressively responsible purchasing, production expediting, production planning, and/or materials management experience in a manufacturing environment working with MRP systems.
- Extensive knowledge of BOMs and working knowledge of engineering planning tools.
- Must have basic Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Must be able to make decisions concerning priorities, cost, lead times, and availability for prototype/LRIP needs.
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Able to prioritize, delegate, complete multiple tasks, and work under deadlines.
