Sr. Manager - Maintenance

SUMMARY

This position provides a challenging work environment, opportunities to drive change and career advancement opportunities. Reporting to the Plant Manager and a member of the Leadership Team, the Maintenance & Reliability Manager will lead and direct Mechanical, Instrument, Electrical and Controls Maintenance and Reliability Group employees including the IE&C Manager, engineers,

superintendents, supervision and craftsmen with a focus on safety, environmental and health regulations and compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support and drive a continuous improvement process in accident prevention and environmental excellence.

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally sound manner while adhering to all company policies and procedures.

  • Drive and support effective Work Management Process and monitoring of KPI's for improvement opportunities.

  • Provide effective oversight of maintenance crafts and appropriate mix of permanent and contract labor through effective contracting strategies.

  • Promote an atmosphere that supports quality through the effective utilization of tools, procedures, and materials consistent with production requirements.

  • Responsible for improvement process and development of preventative, predictive and condition-based maintenance asset strategies.

  • Participate in identifying, tracking, analyzing and improving key maintenance metrics such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, preventative maintenance & schedule compliance.

  • Support and drive development of detailed asset strategies for improved asset reliability.

  • Drive continuous improvement through Root Cause Analysis and implementation of corrective actions and evaluation of Asset Strategies.

  • Drive and support an effective Mechanical Integrity Process.

  • Participate in various improvement or benchmarking projects as required.

  • Drive continuous improvement in the Turnaround Process to ensure timely and cost-effective turnaround execution.

  • Preparation of annual maintenance and reliability budgets and department KPI's.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining five (5) year maintenance and capital improvement plans.

  • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring of new maintenance & reliability personnel.

  • Responsible for keeping abreast of advancing technology in diagnostic techniques, digitization, advanced controls, repair procedures and preventative measures to assure optimum performance at minimum cost.

  • Developing training and career development plans for all reliability engineers.

  • Champion reliability training and awareness across the site for improved understanding and individual ownership.

  • Provide mentoring and guidance to employees for development and advancement within the organization.

  • Continue professional growth to optimize management of accountabilities and prepare for increased responsibility.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.

  • Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams through cooperative, team-based interactions.

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering.

  • Ten years of experience in an industrial chemical and/or heavy manufacturing plant.

  • Six years of maintenance and plant support services experience.

  • Thorough working knowledge of requirements and controls necessary to efficiently manage a large maintenance organization and a solid understanding of workflow processes.

  • Excellent leadership and communications skills.

  • Strong administrative, organization, technical and analytical skills.

  • Six Sigma Lean experience is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
