Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator Women's Resources Center
Job SummaryManages the Women's Resources Center's (WRC) robust peer educator program, including coordinating the First Year Consent and Relationship Education (FYCARE), ICARE Bystander Intervention, GUARD, and Advanced Consent and Relationship programs. Cultivates interdisciplinary educational content and partnerships to embed prevention efforts across the institution through culturally informed approaches.
Duties & Responsibilities Program Management
- Assists with leading train-the-trainer education sessions for peer educators, and professional development opportunities, to ensure quality delivery of campus-wide violence prevention educational content.
- Manages delivery of the required, campus-wide First Year Consent and Relationship Education (FYCARE) program for new, entering undergraduate students and transfer students.
- Manages delivery of the ICARE (bystander intervention), Advanced Consent and Relationship programs and GUARD (fraternity and sorority focused) peer-led programs.
- Coordinates workshop schedules and facilitator shift schedules.
- Responds to inquiries from program participants, either in-person, by telephone or through written correspondence (including e-mail).
- Serves as on-call support during FYCARE workshops for peer educators.
- Participates in the development of program budgets by tracking expenditures, processing purchase requests, and ensuring alignment with institutional financial policies and allocated funding limits.
- Creates educational content and delivery of awareness month activities (including Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, etc.).
- Under the direction of the Associate Director, assesses, evaluates, and revises sexual misconduct prevention/outreach initiatives to improve reach and effectiveness.
- Collaborates with other staff to publicize the programs and events of the Women's Resources Center through written and electronic means.
- Serves on relevant committees on campus and in the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Staff Supervision, Training, and Support
- Supervises student staff (peer facilitator employees and prevention outreach interns).
- Manages student staff recruitment, hiring, training, development, payroll, and evaluation.
- Assists with the design and facilitation of student staff orientation and professional development.
Outreach and Partner Capacity Building
- Cultivates and sustains collaborative relationships with a wide array of constituents (staff, faculty, students, community members, and community organizations) to develop and execute comprehensive sexual misconduct prevention strategies through trainings, consultations, and resource development.
- Supports the development of educational materials and messaging campaigns (electronic, print and video) related to sexual misconduct during notable campus time periods (e.g. Welcome Week, Homecoming, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, etc.) in collaboration with other campus units.
- Coordinates Women's Resources Center outreach efforts including responding to program inquiries, organizing workshops, facilitating workshops, and scheduling peer educator shifts.
- Utilize evidence-informed strategies to increase University community awareness and knowledge on topics such as: sexual assault and relationship violence, healthy relationships, consent, respect, bystander intervention, stalking, and supporting survivors, on- and off-campus resources, and university policies.
- Assist in providing information, advocacy, referral and other direct services to students, faculty, and staff seeking confidential advising assistance.
Required QualificationsEducation:
Experience:
- A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in sexual misconduct prevention.
- Demonstrated experience developing content for newsletters, websites, and/or social media.
- Experience delivering educational presentations.
- Successful completion of an Illinois Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training (40 hours minimum) within 90 days after the employment start date (the unit will cover the cost of the training).
Preferred QualificationsExperience:
- At least one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in higher education programming.
- One or more years supervising and training student staff.
- Experience developing student leaders for the purposes of advancing sexual misconduct prevention, public health, inclusion or related matters.
- Experience with building and maintaining relationships with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience with graphic and web-based programs such Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Publisher or Canva.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of prevention programs related to interpersonal & gender-based violence prevention (including sexual health).
- Strong organizational and planning skills to achieve progress on multiple, simultaneous projects.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, problem solving, professional boundaries and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and Microsoft Office skills.
- Broad knowledge of public health approaches to sexual violence prevention.
- Skilled in needs assessment, program evaluation, data collection, and/or reporting.
- Broad knowledge of student development theories.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/17/2026. The budgeted salary range for the position is $48,000 to $55,000.
