The (Senior Associate) Manager, Payroll and Stock Administration is responsible for the accurate, compliant, and timely execution of U.S. payroll operations and equity (stock) administration. This role ensures operational excellence across payroll processing, regulatory compliance, and equity plan administration, while enhancing employee experience and supporting broader Finance and HR initiatives.
This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors.

This role ensures operational excellence across payroll processing, regulatory compliance, and equity plan administration, while enhancing employee experience and supporting broader Finance and HR initiatives.
This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
- Administer payroll systems and partner with external payroll providers as needed
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts (e.g., wages, taxes, benefits, deductions) and support audits
- Lead payroll-related process improvements, controls, and documentation
Stock (Equity) Administration
- Administer employee equity plans (e.g., stock options, RSUs, ESPP if applicable)
- Maintain accurate equity records and coordinate with external vendors and transfer agents
- Support equity grant lifecycle (grant issuance, vesting, exercises, settlements)
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and HR to ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements (e.g., SEC filings, tax reporting)
- Respond to employee inquiries related to equity compensation
Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare and review payroll and equity-related reporting (internal and external)
- Ensure SOX compliance and maintain strong internal controls
- Support internal/external audits and regulatory filings (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, Form 4s if applicable)
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and IT teams to ensure seamless operations
- Provide subject matter expertise on payroll and equity-related topics
- Support compensation and benefits programs where payroll/equity integration is
Education and Experience Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or related field
- 6-8+ years of experience in payroll and/or equity administration (level-dependent)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, tax compliance, and reporting
- Experience with equity compensation administration (stock options, RSUs)
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Preferred:
- Experience in a publicly traded company and familiarity with SOX controls
- Experience with payroll and equity systems (e.g., Paycor, E*TRADE, Computershare, etc.)
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or CEP (Certified Equity Professional) certification
- Biotech / life sciences industry experience
