Job Summary

The Level 4 Software Engineer is responsible for supporting the migration of a software development environment to an AWS GovCloud-based infrastructure, including the setup of CI/CD pipelines and development environments. This role involves hands-on software development, infrastructure integration, and collaboration within a highly technical, classified defense environment. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient software delivery processes while maintaining compliance with government and organizational standards.

Job Responsibilities



  • Support migration of software development infrastructure to an AWS GovCloud environment.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
  • Set up and support development environments, build systems, and toolchains.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize GitLab pipelines, build systems, and deployment workflows.
  • Develop and maintain software using C++11 and Python in a Linux environment.
  • Work with dependency management and artifact repositories such as Nexus and Artifactory.
  • Collaborate daily with engineering teams in an Agile development environment.
  • Participate in object-oriented software design and implementation.
  • Support integration of tools such as Jira and Atlassian suite for development workflows.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of software development processes and infrastructure.
  • Perform software testing and support unit test frameworks where applicable.
  • Communicate progress, technical challenges, and solutions with team members and stakeholders.


Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM field required.
  • Active U.S. Secret clearance required (investigation within last 5 years or CE enrollment).
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • 3+ years of AWS GovCloud experience required.
  • 3+ years of GitLab experience including CI/CD pipeline development required.
  • 5+ years of C++ and Python development experience required.
  • Strong experience in Linux-based software development environments.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming principles.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipeline setup and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with build tools and dependency management systems such as Nexus and Artifactory.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative Agile environment.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in a secure defense environment.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of relevant software engineering experience required.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or classified environments preferred.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM field required.
