DevOps Engineer

POSITION PURPOSE:

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for supporting software development through efficient deployment processes, automation, and infrastructure management. This role ensures smooth collaboration between development and operations teams, optimizes workflows, maintains system reliability, and implements best practices to improve software delivery and operational efficiency.

POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Deploy and maintain critical applications on cloud-native, distributed, serverless architecture.
  2. Implement automation, observability, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code.
  3. Manage efficient and reliable CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments to help minimize developer friction
  4. Design and implement secure automation solutions for development, testing, and production environments.
  5. Implement industry best practices for system hardening and configuration management, in conjunction with the SecOps team.
  6. Improve system reliability through automation, monitoring, and operational best practices.
  7. Sustain and improve the process of knowledge sharing throughout the engineering team.
  8. Support and work alongside a cross-functional engineering team.
  9. Have on call responsibilities in rotation with the engineering team.
  10. Operate within Xformative's guidelines pursuant to the Employee Handbook and all Policies and Procedures
  11. Perform additional duties as requested by Supervisor and/or Management

POSITIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  1. Strong programming skills (Node, Typescript).
  2. Proficient in automation tools (GitHub Actions, Serverless, etc.).
  3. Knowledge of AWS monitoring and logging tools such as Amazon Cloudwatch, AWS CloudTrail.
  4. Exceptional attention to detail with a preference for highly structured procedures
  5. Experience maintaining and deploying highly-available, fault-tolerant systems at scale.
  6. A drive towards automating repetitive tasks.
  7. Expertise with AWS such as IAM, VPC, ECS.
  8. Experience implementing CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CodeBuild).
  9. Operational experience with NoSQL databases such as Amazon DynamoDB.
  10. Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Serverless Framework, AWS Cloudformation).
  11. Effective communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE):

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a similar role within the technology sector.
  2. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  3. 3 or more years of large scale distributed system development.
  4. Fintech experience preferred, or equivalent experience with regulated environments with compliance requirements (e.g., SOC2, PCI DSS)
  5. 3 or more years working in DevOps.
  6. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Github Actions preferred)
  7. Experience working with AWS and its managed products (AWS Lambda, ECS, SNS, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon CloudWatch)
  8. Familiarity with control plane architecture, supporting multiple AWS accounts and organizations.
  9. Strong incident response skills across detection, investigation, containment, and recovery especially in complex cloud-native environments.
  10. Willingness to participate in a shared on-call rotation for security incidents
